1.2 Aufgabenarten
Aufgabentyp I  und Aufgabentyp II
Im Sinne des erweiterten Textbegriffes können auch Bilder und Filmsequenzen zur Textvorlage gehören.

1.3 Bearbeitungszeit und Vorbereitungszeit
Die Bearbeitungszeit beträgt 300 Minuten.
Eine Lese- und Auswahlzeit von maximal 20 Minuten kann der Arbeitszeit vorgeschaltet werden.

2.   Themenkorridore

2.1 Thema I: Canada - A Land of Many Nations

Es geht darum, sich mit den für das moderne Kanada prägenden Eigenheiten und deren Ursachen auseinander zu setzen. Dabei wird das heutige Kanada in seiner regionalen, sozialen, ethnischen und kulturellen Vielfalt betrachtet und seine künftigen Entwicklungsperspektiven zwischen indigenen Gegebenheiten, europäischen Wurzeln und asiatischen Einflüssen werden beleuchtet.

Bezugspunkte für eine vertiefte synchrone Auseinandersetzung sind:

2.2 Thema II: Ireland - A Country Between Tradition and Modernity

Es geht darum, sich mit den Ursachen der das moderne Irland prägenden Entwicklungsprozesse auseinander zu setzen. Dabei wird das heutige Irland als Ergebnis historisch-politischer und sozial-religiöser Konflikte verstanden und seine künftigen Entwicklungsperspektiven werden beleuchtet.
